G is for Gratitude

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the US. While there will be turkey and all of the fixings here at the Snake Den, we also have the tradition of going around the table and telling what we are thankful for.

Of course, there are the standards of food and being together and such. Also a few less so such as our cats and the occasional “not having to have Thanksgiving dinner with x.”

We always go in age order so as the oldest, I go first. Everyone complains that they end up repeating my list but it is what it is.

The thing is that my first is always Snake. I am thankful for all that he brings to me, our family, and the people who interact with him. He makes me happy, he makes me frustrated, he makes me roll my eyes and he makes me feel safe. And even though we’ve been together for a really long time, he never lets me forget how much he loves me and how important I am to him. And I hope he feels that I do the same in return.

Not that I ever am…most of the time. But he is my sounding board and stands by my side always. He also is more than willing to give me a different viewpoint and help me make decisions. Honesty, trust, and friendship are the basis of our love.

It’s not where you
are in life, it’s who
you have by your
side that matters.

And by my side is where I love him to be. We love spending time together and going on adventures. We love staying home and watching TV and playing video games. And, we love playing other types of games as well.

While I have a lot to be thankful for in my life, my first and foremost is always going to be having Snake. He makes the bad more bearable and the good so much better.
