“I think I’m going to make a charcuterie board,” she said as she got up.

“A what?” He barely turned to look at her.

“You’ll see.” She had an idea.

“Sounds good, hon,” he said as he turned back to the screen.

“Good talk,” she laughed as she headed to the kitchen. She pulled out a platter and grabbed the cheese and some salami from the refrigerator. She laid them out in a nice pattern and put then put some olives and bread around them. Nodding, she smiled.

On the back patio, she moved the table and chairs to the yard. She was too lazy to wipe it off so she grabbed an old sheet that they used to cover the plants and covered the table. A couple of plastic plates and wine glasses and the scene was set.

She carried the tray and the wine to the table and headed back inside. “Excuse me, kind sir. I was hoping for the pleasure of your company for a surprise date.” She crossed her fingers that he would play along.

It took a few seconds for him to realize what she had asked. He looked at the TV and turned it off. “I think that’s the best offer I’ve had all day.” He stood up and took her hand. “Please, lead the way.”

She took him to the yard and with a flourish of her hand, she said, “Charcuterie, my lord,” and giggled.
