R is for Regret

I have a lot of regrets. Didn’t expect that from Charmer, did you?

Let me explain. I have a lot of regrets about how things turned out. Some work or money-related, some relationship-related and some just life.

We’ve had business relationships that turned bad and had a lot of fall out. We’ve had friendships that turned out to be more transactional than friendship. We’ve had relationships that were either outright lies or just didn’t work out as planned.

So, yes, regrets over the things that happened.

That said, would I make different choices now in order to avoid the result? Probably not.

I made the best decisions at the time based on the information that I had. I can’t control other people–no matter how much I’d love to at times–and sometimes life just happens. The last year and a half has definitely been proof of that.

Making a big life change is pretty scary. But know what’s even scarier? Regret.

Zig Ziglar

I would probably have even more regrets if I hadn’t tried things or reached out to people. Relationships don’t always work, people aren’t always honest and sometimes shit just happens. But me being Charmer, I’m not going to change being me in order to keep from regretting how things might turn out.

I’ll just keep those experiences and regrets and keep living my life. The right people and circumstances will, and have, found me.

  1. I think it’s only natural to feel a pang of regret for some things in the past, but we should all remember the time setting and knowledge we had at the time of whatever we have done in that moment. Sometimes we forget that we look back on things with the knowledge we have today…

  2. This is such a healthy sentence- “I made the best decisions at the time based on the information that I had.” And one that I use frequently. I’m glad you’re going to keep being you and continue taking chances!
