My Life in Quotes

I would love to be the person who can put up one sentence or quote and say, “Wow. It’s me. ” It feels like that would mean that I had a strong sense of who I am. THIS IS ME on a plate/post/image seems like it should be attainable, but, alas, no luck so far.

I know I am not unique in the fact that I am multifaceted. And I know they are all pieces of Charmer. The thing is, to me, my brain is divided into little sections that each contain a piece of me. Sometimes these pieces play well together, and sometimes chaos erupts.

It feels like choosing one quote means shutting down parts of me that don’t feel represented by that. All of the little pieces screaming, “You forgot about me!” Yes, my brain is a very noisy place to be.

So I decided to post several that seem to resonate with the woman who I want to be.

“It took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent.”

Madeleine Albright

“You can waste your lives drawing lines. Or you can live your life crossing them.”

Shonda Rhimes

“When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful.”

Malala Yousafzai

“If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.”

Katharine Hepburn

There is not one of those quotes that couldn’t have come out of my mother’s mouth so I think that’s a tribute to her. She, and my father, raised me to be strong and vocal and, above all, have fun. Stand up to people if they are hurting others and leave them to their own life if they are not. And dance. And sing. And laugh. And push your own boundaries.

So, being female is the core of me. I can’t escape that. But, I feel like that is a way I was born as opposed to the person I created. And that person has a lot more facets.

I love books. I love travel. I love Snake and my family. I love my friends. I love my cats. I love the ocean and the mountains and the desert. I love games and movies and Broadway shows and dancing and…. But, I think the thing that probably describes me most of all is geek or nerd.

I obsess over my newest obsession. It has been Harry Potter, Star Trek, Star Wars, Hunger Games, Doctor Who, MacGyver (original, sorry), Supernatural, Firefly, Minecraft, and I am sure there are dozens more that Snake could list.

So, here, I feel like the star of gaming, TV, movies, internet, books and one who is relatable, funny and loving gets to be my choice for me. I love her and all that she stands for and I want her to be my bestie.

  1. Those are some fabulous quotes you’ve got there. I can relate to struggling to find one quote to sum me up, that why I collect so many over on pinterest, that way I have a quote for every bit of me to relate too, lol :p x

  2. This is another fabulous post charmer – great quotes and I am so envious regarding how you were brought up – power to your parents and now to you x

  3. And beneath all the quotes and memes and anything slightly amusing.. lies the heart of you, your inner nerd and she is a wonder to behold! ❤️ (One nerd to another 😉)

  4. Great quotes. I particularly like the Madeleine Albright quote. I listened to her reading the audiobook of her book “Fascism: A Warning” and have kind of been a bit in love with her ever since!
